Are you looking for a Chevy Camaro Z28?

Q: 1994 chevy camaro z28 wondering if there is any frequently occurring problems with it?
Hi I’m looking into buying a 94 camaro z28 lt1 and i am wondering how reliable is the car and is there any problems that frequently occur on the car such as any recalls they may have had on them or something that always seems to go on the car? thank you for the in put

A: As in the other answers the optispark issue is the big problem most people have had.
There are two good ways of fixing it and 100s of bad ways.
The two fixes that work are an after market optispark unit or MSD makes a cap that moves the air vent to the intake to eliminate the breather holes that allow water in to the unit.

It depends on the condition of your opti as to what the best choice is for your car.
If the opti is in good shape and has not had any issues replacing the cap and moving the air vent works well,I’ve done it many times.
But if the opti has gotten wet and is rusty or just old a new unit is the best choice.

Another thing that still gives shops trouble is the reverse cooling system.
LT1s run hotter than other 5.7L small blocks and most used cars I see with an LT1 have cooling issues due to incorrect servicing of the cooling system.
Other than the upgraded optispark the best after market upgrade out there for the LT1 is an elec. watter pump.
The LT1’s water pump has a plate on the front that can be removed and the insides taken out.
That plate is then replaced with the elec. unit.
The new water pump will improve cooling at idle most of all, where it is needed most given how tight F-body engine bays are.

I’ve had both F-Bodies and Vettes with LT1s and loved them all.

Q: what is the maximum size tire that can fit on my 1999 chevy camaro z28?
I need new tires bad and I was wondering if these would fit;18×9.5 Chrome ZR1 5 spoke style 54mm offset wheels with new 275/35/18 G-Force BFG KDW NT tires. Thank You

A: The largest that I could find for an 18 inch wheel for that car is a 245/40-18.

Q: What Car Is Better, 1995-2000 Ford Mustang GT Or 1995-2000 Chevy Camaro Z28 Or SS?
I am thinking of getting a muscle car soon. This would be my first one. They would be used and have a V8 engine. I am not too sure if I want a coupe or a convertible. I would only drive them during the summer because I have another car already that I would use during the winter. If you have any experience with either of them, good or bad, if you could tell me, that would be great.

A: The Mustang .The gaymaro is lame ,It’s only good for poseurs.

Q: can a 1994 chevy camaro z28 engine and trany fit in a 1956 chevy belair?

A: Sure. The LT1’s used the same motor mounts as the Gen 1 small blocks and had the same basic exhaust port design, so off the shelf small block motor mounts and headers will work. You can’t use the stock style single bolt front motor mounts. You will have to use side mounts. You will have to get a reverse flow radiator. The LT1’s used reverse cooling. Griffin makes an aluminum cross-flow radiator specifically for 55-57 Chevy. Other than that you’ll need a wiring harness and ecm from the Camaro or an aftermarket unit and a return line will have to be added to the fuel tank along with a high pressure fuel injection pump. You’ll also need a transmission crossmember if it hasn’t already been changed over from the iron powerglide or three speed mid mounts.

Q: how much would you pay for 4 rims to 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28 in great condition?
my dad said i could sell them but i dont know how much

A: look on E bay to see if anyone else is selling and for how much. craigs list also.

Q: I have a 98 Chevy Camaro Z28 with a rough idle. What’s the best way to clean the MAF sensor?
Can I simply spray the carburator cleaner into the intake? Or do I actually have to take the MAF sensor out and clean it? And if the latter, how do I do it? I have the Service Engine Soon light on (steady), but when the car goes over 50 mph, the SES light BLINKS!

A: don`t clean — replace

Q: At how many miles does a 1982 chevy camaro z28 roll back to zero?
it now reads 085xx thousand miles i just want to know how many mile it actually has

A: It will only indicate 99,999 miles and then it goes back to 00000. As to how many miles, that’s anyones guess. I have a Mustang that’s been “Around” a couple of times, at least.

Q: i havea chevy camaro z28 and i have a question?
is it possible to make it so the car can get better mpg and if so how
could i add a bigger gas tank or something?

A: gone.. is completely wrong.. here are a few things that could help you with gas mileage.. cold air intake, better spark plugs, better spark plug wires, underdrive pulley, smaller rear end ratio, and even a better exhaust system will improve gas mileage.. you could also add a set of low rolling resistance tires.. remove extra weight such as spare tire.. all of these will help you increase your gas mileage

Q: how much horsepower does my 2002 chevy camaro z28 have? whats the topspeed and 0-60mph??
answer both questions. Is my car fast?

A: 0-60 about 5-6 seconds

take it to drag strip or search google, this is a lousy place to ask.

Q: is it hard to replace a a/c compressor on a 94 chevy camaro Z28?? help?
i have a 94 chevy camaro Z28 modified just recently the compressor frooze on me and when i try to turn it on the belts starts smoking looks kool but i know its bad lol. i am going to buy a compressor to replace cause i tired looking up deals to by pass the compressor but have not found anything yet so wondering if anyone knows or has info on how to change it.

A: Nothing is tight in that engine bay. The AC compressor is actually very easy to get to.

Even so, this is probably a job best left to a shop. Those systems are pressurized, and can cause a lot of problems if you do it wrong (personal harm, vehicle damage, etc.). Leave this one to the pros – it shouldn’t cost that much.

Q: which sports car is better a chevy camaro z28 or a ford mustang gt?

A: First: Neither of those are sports cars, not even close.

That said, the Mustang is a better car overall, but the Camaro has a much, much better engine and is a much faster car.

Q: 1986 z28 chevy camaro what size engines?
I was wondering what size engine the 1986 z28 camaro had?

A: The only engine used in the 1986 Z/28 was a 305.

The 305 used in the Z/28 came in 3 versions ranging from 165 HP to 190 HP.

The IROC-Z used both the 305 or the 350

The 305 used in the IROC-Z was the same as the versions in the Z/28.
The 350 used in the IROC-Z made 220 HP. These are extremely rare as only 50 of these were built and used mostly as test vehicles. At the last minute Chevrolet decided mot to sell the IROC-Z with a 350.

See the link below for more information on this third generation Camaro.

Q: In all aspects of performance whats the difference between a Chevy Z28 Camaro and a SS Camaro?
as in HP. how much do they both have? all those things

A: It depends on the year. The LT1 Z-28 Camaro from 1993-1997 put out 275-285 horsepower, and the SS put out 315 horsepower. From 1998 and after, the LS-1 Z28 had 305 horsepower, and the SS bumped up to 325-330 hp. The horsepower ratings may have been underrated, as the cars were very close to Corvette specs. The SS was actually a Z-28 that was upgraded by SLP. They bolted on a free-flow exhaust system, better wheel/tire combos, thicker sway bars, that beautiful hood with the scoop, and a upgraded air intake system. They supposedly handled better and were a tad bit faster in the quarter mile. Awesome cars, no matter which you buy, but the SS was a limited edition each year, so they are worth more.

Q: will seats from a 1995 chevy camaro z28 fit into a 1982 pontiac firebird?

A: Well its a diffrent kind of seat so probly not. but as long as the bolt pattern is the same then you can make it work.

Q: is it a good idea to put headers on a 1988 chevy camaro iroc Z28?
Because i heard it heat up the motor quick.

A: Putting headers on your car will enhance the performance depending on what make and style headers you buy. Then again, unless you have a comparable exhaust system to go with it, the point of installing headers would be useless.

I am not certain what you mean by they will heat up the motor quick. Generally the stock exhaust manifolds retain more heat than the average header.

On this particular car, you have a tighter fit and if heat generation is a concern, it would be surrounding the starter motor. The headers are much closer to it than the stock system.

Are you looking for a 2010 Acura TL?

Q: For my first car should I buy an Acura TL with like 100k on it or should I go with a Mazda 6 with like 60k?
The Acura TL i heard last very long but the Mazda 6 i heard does not last very long and I heard they are not good to get used? Basically I need a choice betweeen 2000 Acura 3.2TL with 100k miles, 2003 Mazda 6 with 70k miles, 2002 Jetta with 80k miles?

A: Well I say the Acura just cuz I used to have one and loved it to death. I had the same exact year and model but it was a type S~! Well good luck~!

Q: Where can I find decent rims for my 2003 Acura TL?
I live in Chicago, IL. I wanted to replace the rims on my Acura TL. How much should it cost to replace all 4 rims? What are the best, worst rims?

A: As a fellow Chicagoan, I’d say don’t replace your rims right now, because all the potholes would ruin them (wait until they patch the majority of them up). You can check out http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?autoMake=Acura&autoModel=3.2TL&autoYear=2003&autoModClar=. They have cheap rims that are made in China to very expensive rims that are made in Germany, Italy, U.S., Japan, etc. Depending on what style, brand and size rims you get they can range from, $600-3000. You have to get new tires if you plus size your rims, from your current 17″. The tires can vary greatly in prices, with the brands/ types (i.e. summer, high performance, etc.) I bought 18″ rims and tires for my ‘03 Accord at http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do, and I think I made a good choice. I’d say that an average price for rims and tires of good quality would be around $1500. I highly suggest you take your rims off for winter (I do this), so you extend the life of the rims. Hope this helps, and sorry this is so long!

Q: I need to know how to locate the exhaust gas recirculation system in a 98 Acura 3.2 TL?
Is there a sample of a layout picutre, or a template which show underneath the hood of the ACURA TL car. It is a P0401 code. Can someone provide me with some tips. I greatly appreciate it.

A: they are always under the hood on the intake manifold near fire wall will have one vacuum line going to it and is looks kind of like a mushroom round and if motor has been run it is very hot so be careful

Q: what is a technology package on an Acura TL ?
I am looking to buy a used 2009 Acura TL, i found a couple that comes with a Technology package, does anyone here knows what that includes?

A: Technology PackageAudio:
440-watt Acura/ELS Surround® Premium 10-speaker Sound System with HDD music storage, in-dash CD, DVD-Audio, MP3, WMA and DTS®6 player, Dolby®5 Pro Logic® II and XM® Radio with Note function music reminder
Acura Navigation System10:
Rearview camera, Traffic Rerouting™, and Zagat Survey® ratings and reviews, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and Weather™13, Automated Appointments™
Voice Recognition System:
For navigation, audio, and climate control systems
Climate Control:
GPS-linked and solar-sensing10
Cellular Interface:
Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® phonebook exchange
Seating:
Premium Leather-trimmed interior
Ignition:
Keyless Access System with push button start
Exterior:
Body-colored decklid spoiler

Q: How much longer will this 2003 Acura TL Type S Last?
I got an Acura 2003 TL Type S for my first car. It has 136k miles on it though. And a new transmission been placed in a week ago.
So how many more miles do you think it will last?
And if it were to break what would go out first?

A: another 100k at least

Q: how much it cost a to change a timing belt for 1999 acura tl ?
i need to change the timing belt for a 1999 acura tl, any idea how much is it ?

A: Anywhere from 300-1200 depending on how experienced and honest the shop is that’s doing the repair, as well as the quality of the parts and what parts are changed when doing the job. You should have the shop check and or replace the drive belts, waterpump, tensioner, idler and any seals if their leaking while they change the timing belt. Good luck and hope this helps.

Q: What is a good new or 1-2 year old car to replace a 2005 Acura TL with? I want the same features?
I want a good replacement for my 2005 Acura TL with the same technology and features or better for around 25-35 thousand dollars.

A: Infiniti M 06

BMW 3 series

Q: How to program remote for 2000 Acura TL?
I just purchased two used remotes for my 2000 Acura TL but they didn’t come with instructions.
Can anyone tell me the steps to program them?

A: i programed a 1999 cl, i think it could be the same process. I put the key in the ignition, turned it to the “on” position, hit the lock button on the remote, and then turn it back off. repeat this prosess two more times. i know when the locks cycle through, (they will unlock and re-lock) hit the lock button again. It worked for me, i’m not sure about for you. sorry if this didn’t work. Let me know if this worked, i’ll look for the instructions from my programming if it doesn’t.

Q: I have a 2005 Acura Tl engine, and swap into 1997 civic coupe?
Is it remotely possible to put the powerful acura tl engine into a honda civic. what kind of custom work would be required.

A: I don’t think it would work.

Q: What is the cost difference in fixing an Acura TL vs. a Honda Accord?
In general how much more is it to fix an Acura? Hondas and Acuras are very similar so I was wondering if it is substantially more to fix a honda. Say the brakes go out or the alternator am I looking at a much bigger bill with the TL over the Accord?

A: A lot of a electrical parts, map sensor, oxygen sensor and so on can cost 2 to 3 times as more than a Honda.

Q: What spec and engine is best for an Acura TL? I have about $20k to spend?
I’m moving to the state to start my job as a cop but I need a car thats good on the interstate to and from work. I like the Acura TL so I want to know which one to go for if I’m making sense. Help will be much appreciated.

A: buy a 2004 acura tsx….slightly smaller then the tl but gets wayyyy better gas mileage…its fast too…you can pick one up for about 18k with low miles….my uncle has a 04 TL and I have a 3.2 CL Type-S and we both burn through gas, even with light driving….the tsx has a 2.4 vtec with PLENTY of gusto

Q: What kind of quality is a KN&N airfilter in an Acura TL?
By putting a kn&n airfilter in an Acura TL, can small particles get through it and cause damage or wear on the engine?

A: if you mean a K&N air filter, you dont have to worry about quality it is one of the best quality air filters on the market, if not the best today.dont worry about any particles getting through a K&N filter.

Q: Is a 2002 acura tl a good buy for 12k and is it a good car??
I am going to buy 2002 Acura TL-S for 12k..It has 94k miles and has all the service records .. Is it a good buy and also does the car have any problems???

A: Acuras are good cars but thats a lot of miles for the money your putting into it.

Q: What front spindles will fit an Acura Tl 99?
What other make and model car’s spindles would fit a 99 acura tl?

A: Honda Accord

Q: How do i enter a car radio code on an Acura tl 02?
Does anybody know how to enter the radio code on an acura tl 02? i have the radio code 21313(provided by the dealer) but it does not work. maybe because i have the worng code or could it be that i am not entering it right? thank you for your help…..

A: When you turn on the radio if it says code the you need to press the station presets.according to you code. If you tried to enter the code too many times and it says error, then you need to disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 10-20 minutes fot the radio to clear and then reconnect the battery, If it still says error the try dixconnecting the battry for a longer eriod of time. When the radio says code try again. If that still fails you may have to visit your dealer to have him look into the problem

Q: Need the front seat diagrams with part numbers for a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with bucket seats?

A: Please call your local Chevy dealers parts dept. They will be able to help you with all the information you need.Best of luck.

Q: i have a 1989 chevrolet silverado 1500 series?
it was running fine yesterday then today it won’t hardly go. it is just putting around and even dies when it is idling. i think maybe the fuel filter has been going bad because for a while now it sometimes has problems going up hills. can someone help me get started in the right direction?

A: Possilbly the fuel filter .How long has it been since a tuneup has been done? Also have the cat. converter checked that plugged will cause a bad idle ,rough idle and poor performance . Let me know what you find out I own one too .Thanks

Q: 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500 series with 4.3 engine?
changed the oil in my truck today (2000 chevrolet silverado with a 4.3 enigne) and my oil sensor was running around 40-45 psi now its running around 60 psi or something like that. i just got the truck so its hard to tell how long its been since the oil has been changed? any suggestions?

A: It may have been a long time,
or
There may have been the wrong oil in the engine, or gas may have diluted the oil.
My 4.3 use to run about 55 after change and get to 50 in 4000 miles at next change.

One word of caution on that 4.3.
DO NOT LET IT OVER HEAT!
I did on mine and it cracked the right head in 3 places on number 4 and 6 cylinders 1 crack on 4 and 2 cracks on 6, caused by a heater core blowing out. Drove it 3 miles with no water and fried it but with 287,000 I don’t feel to bad.
Would have walked if could but am on oxygen 24/7 so that was out of question.

Q: 2003 chevrolet silverado 1500 leaking oil from transmission?
When the mechanin was doing the tune up he noticed that there was an oil leak from the transmission is this somethin that would be expensive to fix or what could be wrong with the truck?

A: It depends on where the leak is, and how bad the leak is. I’m guessing the leak is not very bad, since you didn’t even know about it before the mechanic pointed it out. Some older vehicles will seep a little fluid around seals and it might not be worth the money to fix it. It can cost quite a bit to replace the seals. If it’s not making a big puddle in your garage every day, I would consider just monitoring it and seeing if it gets any worse. Make sure you keep the ATF level full!

JL

Q: is a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS or LT ext cab with 4.8 or 5.3 engine a good truck?
I really want to buy these kind of trucks hopefully with under 120k miles on it. Is it a good dependable truck overall?

A: i have a 2001 chevy 1500 z-71 ex cab. we purchased it a year ago and have only had to do the usual – oil changes and change the brake pads/shoes. it had 68,000 miles on it when we got it and now it has 102,000. if this helps, we paid $16,900.00 for it. we could have gotten it cheaper i think, but in my area, we jumped on it cuz 4×4’s are kinda hard to come by here. now the gas milage is a different story… in the winter we get around 21-22 mpg and in the summer with running the a/c, we get around 18 -19 mpg :>(
i guess it’s about average with a 4×4 though. keep in mind that the newer models – sometimes when buying new parts it can cost more – the newer models can sometimes only be worked on through a dealer rather than working on them yourself depending on the part that needs work – alot of the parts can only be purchased through a dealer cuz of the parts stores not caring the parts (for instance when we had the oil changed, the part store didn’t care the air filter) however, now advance auto does care one and it cost about 50.00, but has a lifetime warranty.
overall, we like the truck, but if we had it to do over again, we’d try to go with one that has the 4 full doors. our truck has 4 doors, but the back 2 are what i call half doors, lol… the 4 full doors are a big advantage if you have a family. also, on some of these trucks, a heater will come on the transmission to get it heated up quicker. they have several cool things that i like about them. and taxes cost 249.00 per year and insurance cost around 750.00 per year.

hope this info helps…

Q: what kind of coolant do you put in a year 2000 chevrolet 1500 silverado?

A: ive got a 98 put the red stuff in it is made for your cooling system and its good fo years

Q: What kind of transmission (manual) oil does a 1993 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado take?

A: Any Good 80W-90 Gear Oil

Q: What kind of audio speaker system is in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

A: THIS IS THE BEST WEBSITE TO FIND OUT, JUST ENTER YOUR CAR INFO.

Q: Where is the camshaft position sensor’s location on the motor of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3 V8 2WD?

A: in the distributer… 3 wire connector

Q: What are your opinions on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular cab LT?

A: Nice truck if you can feed it. I’d be most worried about resale.

Q: Will a JL audio W7 fit in a 2006 chevrolet silverado 1500 crew cab under the back seat or behind the seat?

A: I dont think they will. I know that Infinity kappa perfect subs wont and they are smaller than the W7

Q: What transmissions will fit my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck?
I have a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck. It’s automatic. The transmission has gone bad and I am looking to replace it, just wondering what will fit it. My friend is a mechanic and I can help him drop it in. Just wanna know what to get.
A local is selling a turbo 400 for about $300 and I’m pretty sure that would work. Could I also use a 700r and would it be better?
I have switched out the original engine to a more modern vortec from a 97 chevy(still carb though), which delivers more power. So I would like something a little better than just ’stock’ but not necessarily on the budget for ‘high performance’.
I’m looking to buy something used to save money. What are my options and what can I expect to pay?

A: that would probably have been a 700R4 already, the turbo 400 would take some different parts to install. I believe an 88-93 pickup transmission would work..

Q: How do you change an 02 sensor on a 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500, 4.8 liter?

A: To ways.
You rally should do this with the exhaust warm, helps in removal

the parts house will give you a replacement that either has a connector and all you do is unscrew the old out of the exhaust and place the new in. the reconnect the connection, or some are a universal type that you have to splice the old plug into the new sensor. Either way it is about a 30 minute job..

Q: Where can i get an image of 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD?

A: http://www.chevrolet.com/ You will find good pics here.

Q: 89 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wiper problem?
Hey I am about to buy a 1989 Chevy Silverado 1500. The only problem is that the windshield wipers and the brights dont work. I checked the fuses and none are blown. I was thinking about replacing the Wiper motor, Turn Signal Switch, and the Turn Signal lever because the brights and wiper controls are on that lever. Could someone advise me as to what I should replace first? I would hate to spend money on parts I dont need.

A: Check for loose wire connections.

Are you looking for a 2010 Mazda RX-8?

Q: How do you feel about the Mazda RX-8?
Im thinking of getting an 04 or an 05 Mazda RX-8 because I really like the idea of the rotary engine. To me, they seem to make perfect sense because they are so much simpler. I also want something fun to drive so this car seems to make sense. Any insight on the car or Mazda’s in general?

A: great car, easy to drive fast, just keep an eye on your oil levels.

Q: Mazda Rx-8?
Give me your feedback on that car. Im interested in picking that car as my graduation present. I love how it looks. Do you think a newer version is going to come on in the next few years?

Feedback please.

A: I’m not sure about a newer version coming out anytime soon, but I’ve worked on 2 of my friend’s RX-8’s and I can say that they are very well put together. Most of my experience working on cars is with Hondas, Toyotas and Nissans, and I can say that I think Mazda is superior in many ways (at least with the RX-8 and Miata). The only real draw back of the RX-8 is the mileage, which is a little lower than a lot of similar cars.

Best of luck and congrats on graduating!

Q: How much is insurance for a Mazda RX-8?
I am a new driver, I’m about to get my learners permit and wanted to get a mazda rx-8 and was wondering how much is the insurance for that type of car and estimate would be fine?

A: it doesn’t matter what type of car you get. the price of your insurance depends mainly on how old you are, how many accidents or tickets youve got, and what insurance company you have and what your coverage is. my advice, get your parents to add you on their insurance, or just put your car on their insurance, it will be the cheapest way to get insurance, because if you get insurance in your name, its gonna cost alot because you are a new driver and the insurance companys assume you will be more likely to get into an accident compared to someone who has been driving for years.

Q: For those who have played Need Speed Underground 2. What is the year of the Mazda RX-8 in the game?
What year was the Mazda RX-8 in Need for Speed Underground 2 made?

A: 2003 or 2004, but they stayed almost the same through 07 in terms of power.

Q: why does a automatic mazda rx-8 still have a clutch pedal?
im just curious because every automatic mazda rx-8 i see online seems to have a clutch pedal and a gear shift, why would it need those if its automatic?

A: It doesn’t have a clutch pedal, only Gas and Brake…
The E-brake is in between the driver and the passenger seats, so that rules that out.

Maybe you saw a manual, but thought it was an Automatic… i dont know what to tell you

Q: Which is better to buy Nissan 350z or Mazda rx-8?
I am torn apart deciding to buy either a nissan 350z or a mazda rx-8. I was wondering if anybody know how long does a nissan and a mazda can last for in mileage? Which car is better for the long term investment? Which car has better quality than the other regarding their brand name? Thanks for your help and opinion!

A: The 350z i love them both but after reading all the reviews and seeing the z perform the z wins.
I would nt say no the either but for me the z first choice.
And value for money the z would win.
If your going to get one have you taken them both for a test run.
One may be the better car,but you know yourself car car can feel different in person.and drive different to each person.
Mileage on both cars they can reach high limits.
I had an older Nissan on 240000 miles and it ran perfect.

Q: What cars use/used to use Wankel Engines (Rotary Engines) besides Mazda RX-8?
I guess the question is pretty self explanatory. I’d like to have a list of cars (companies) that have used Wankel engine (Rotary engine) as their motive force.

As far as I know, currently the only vehicle using one is Mazda RX-8.

Thanks a bunch!

A: 1970–1972 Mazda R100
1970–1974 Mazda RX-2, 130 hp (97 kW) and 156 Nm (115 ft·lbf)
1972–1974 Mazda RX-3 (Japan), 110 hp (82 kW) and 135 Nm (100 ft·lbf)
1972–1974 Mazda RX-4
1972–1980 Mazda Luce
1978–1979 Mazda RX-7, 100 hp (75 kW)
Lean-burn
1979–1985 Mazda RX-7 (Japan)
1980–1985 Mazda RX-7 (USA)
6PI
1981–1985 Mazda Luce
1981–1985 Mazda Cosmo

Q: How do you open a Mazda RX-8 Smart Card (Keyless Entry) without breaking it to change the battery?
I have a keyless start and entry for my 2006 RX-8 and my Smart Card’s battery is failing. However I am not someone with a lot of fitness and fear breaking the thing to see what battery it has to replace it.

So I was wondering if their was some trick to opening it up or guide so I can go about it without breaking it apart.

THANKS!

A: Remove your aux key from the base of the card
The battery is in the lower corner of the main card. The battery cover is actually the sidewall in the outer corner. With a paper clip or very small screwdriver, poke into the vertical side of the key near the bottom to remove the battery cover. It doesn’t take much pressure to get it started. and don’t force it. Once you have removed the cover the battery will slide out with a little shake.

The trick is the clip is shaped like a right angle and clips at both ends. To remove get the bottom one started, then wiggle to the side to remove the side without stressing or breaking the cover piece.

Q: Does the Mazda RX-8 use rotary engine technology?
I heard that the Mazda RX-7 was a car that used this new (at the time) rotary engine technology. This was so good that it could go up to 11k RPM without damaging the engine. The only problem with this is that mechanics needed to re-learn how to work on these cars. The result was that most mechanics didn’t learn how to work on them. So, finding someone who can fix your RX-7 would be a tedious task.

My question is: Is it still as hard to find a rotary engine mechanic today? In either case, does the new generation of Mazda RX-8’s use this technology?

A: Rotary engines have been around quite a bit longer than the RX7.

Mazda has used rotary engines for over 40 years. All of their “RX” units have been rotary powered. And other manufactures have used the design before Mazda, like a company called NSU

If you want more history on the rotary Google the inventors name, Felix Wankel.

And to learn how they work, go here:

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm

Because the engine is so different from a piston engine most mechanics don’t know how to work on them. You want to find a rotary specialist if the motor internals need work. A regular mechanic can fix everything else. Of course most Mazda dealerships should have mechanics trained in rotary anyone repair.

And yes, the RX8 is rotary powered.

Q: Damaged the ignition relay for my mazda rx-8?
I damaged the ignition relay for my mazda rx-8. Is there a specific relay that I have to buy for the make or model of the car. Or does it just depend on the voltage. And where is a cheap place that I can buy it.

A: Yes you need one specific for your car. There isn’t a universal ignition relay. It usually just depends on the voltage – but with the rotary and it being a newer model it could be different. Check autozone, it shouldn’t be more than $20.

Q: Would a Mazda RX-8 be considered a girly car? Would it be cool for a guy to drive?
Would the Mazda RX-8 be a cool car for a guy to drive?

About half of the guys at my school are hicks and drive pickup trucks, and I hate pickup trucks. Anyway, I really like the Mazda RX-8, but It seems like it could be a girly car. Do a lot of guys drive it? Would it be cool for a guy to drive?

I’m also looking at the Honda Element, is that cool? Thanks.

A: The RX8 is a very cool car for a single guy with no kids. In Chicago I have noticed short guys favoring big cars, big guys cramming into little sport cars, hispanics drive pickups and gays like the Element. The funniest plate that I have read in the last year was an Element with “toaster” on the plate. My brother in law drove an Element, loved the car but didn’t like the constant jokes about the car. He had it for less than a year and traded it for a Dodge Ram 4X4. Good luck in whatever you do decide.

Q: What is the best insurance for a Mazda rx-8?
I am 16 and this is what I want for my first car. my parents will pay insurance, so they don’t want something too expensive to insure. the rx-8 is sporty and a four door (so i think that’ll make insurance at least a little bit less) with 4 seats, so it will fill my needs just great, but i don’t know what the insurance costs will be like. does anybody know where i can get the best price?

A: Maybe You should google it at first hand ,nevertheless, if you like some direct resource, here www.Autoinsurancepro.info should be helpful.

Q: Which is the best fuel for a mazda Rx 8 in England?
I have just bought a 2004 RX 8. Does anyone know which fuel will get the best economy and mpg?

A: First, great choice.

Second, AVOID supermarket fuels. No Tesco, Sainsbury’s or Asda.

In England you should get the Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate. It’s called Optimax in the UK, it’s V-Power in the rest of Europe.

Anyway, these are higher octane fuels, rated 98 and 97 respectively (I’m using standard EU ratings, not American ones). I’ve been using Shell fuels almost exclusively in my Mazdas (626 I bought in the UK) and Mazda3 I have in Slovakia. Similarly, my brother’s Mazda 323 and my father’s 6 and 6MPS (98 or 100 octane fuel) have been always on a Shell diet. We never had any problem fuel-wise, I mean, the one that was caused by low quality fuel. Or any other major problem, for that matter.

Check out a Fifth Gear Episode where theye were testing Optimax against Ultimate (http://www.scoobyblog.com/2006-11-28/video-5th-gear-report-fuels-and-bhp-feat-impreza-sti). They found out that Optimax had an edge over Ultimate. Both increased power and torque especially with high power engines. It should also get you better mileage, you have more power available from the same fuel, so yo should be able to turn it into using normal power with less fuel. When I put V-power 100 octane version we got here in Slovakia into my Mazda, I feel the difference – and the mileage is better by 10-15 percent.

Q: Where can I find a 2004 Mazda RX-8 GT owners manual in PDF Format?
I bought a used 2004 Mazda RX-8 GT and brought it home to find out it didn’t come with an owners manual, and the place I bought it only wants to sell me a new one for 40 bucks. Any ideas where on the net I could grab one up in a PDF format?

A: www.mazda.ca

Click ‘parts and service’, click ‘owner info’
Click ‘owners manuals’

Its in there, the whole thing.

Q: how much will a 2006 Mazda RX-8 be in 2 years?
I’m just searching for cars and was just wondering what the price of a 2006 Mazda RX-8 automatic would be in 2 years? If you could give me an estimate I would appreciate it.

A: Well, since Wes is obviously an expert about RX8’s, I will come to the cars defense since I’ve actually owned one since 2005…

First. Mazda will never re-release the RX7. They will never bring back a turbocharged rotary because it’s too difficult to bring in-line with emissions standards. This why they did such a great development job on the Renesis Rotary engine, the best rotary they have ever built (hardly cutting corners…). They have the best side seal and apex seals designs and materials ever used from the factory. The side-port intake and exhaust allow waaaaaayyyyy better breathing than any previous 13B motor. And the motor, WITHOUT the aid of turbo’s produces 238 HP where the 3rd gen FD RX7 produced a bit more (255 HP) but required 2 turbo’s to do so.

I will assume you are in the US since only American’s don’t post where they are since they assume everyone else here is American, too.

The automatic transmission models are not as sought after as the 6 speed models, which have more HP and are more fun to drive. A 2006 auto model probably sells for around $15K (depending only mileage and service history). I would expect the car to sell for 12K or so in 2011 if it still has some warranty left on the motor (8 yr/100K miles). If not, perhaps $10K.

Are you looking for a 2010 Volkswagen New Beetle?

Q: How can I convert my 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle to battery power?

A: the only way convert a car from gas to hybrid is to do it your self. you need a good knowledge of all systems and know how to fabricate your own parts. it is very time consuming and very expensive

Q: Why is the Volkswagen New Beetle switching to 4-cyl engines in 2010 or 2011 from the current 5-cyl engine?
Is there something wrong with the 5-cylinder engines?

A: they probably think it’s cheaper, and it probably is. Also, making an inline 4 is easier than an inline 5, and it’s most popular, and better gas mileage. The list goes on.

Q: Can you fit an infant car seat in a Volkswagen new beetle convertible?
I’m looking at cars and if a baby popped into my future I’d like to know how easy it would be to accomodate it, at least for a while?

A: yes

Q: Has anyone ever had a volkswagen new beetle?
The convertible one….how well do they hold up during rain, snow, other harsh weather? How well are they on gas? Any information or reviews you might have on them just tell me because im thinking of getting one. Maybe like a 2006 model.

A: Great place for you to visit in your research:
http://newbeetle.org
This place doesn’t sell anything, it’s for NB drivers to hang out and exchange info and tips. Very helpful bunch.

I have a ‘98 hardtop NB, and just love it

Hope you join us

Q: Does the Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible break down a lot?
I really want a New Bettle Convertible, but after having a 2000 New Beetle I am scared to buy it. My 2000 Beetle broke down all the time. I was hoping you guys can tell me if you have one and that they have fixed all the problems I had. Does your New Beetle break down all the time? PLEASE HELP!

A: Well, the 2007 model is still too new to provide any long-term reliability information yet, but Consumer Reports has some blurbs on it. You’d need a paid subscription to the site to see the full review, but one quote from them says:

“Reliability is still well below average.”

I knew someone who owned a 2003 model, and she also had some problems with it; she ended up trading in for a Toyota Sienna (she was actually my friend’s mother, so the van made more sense for her anyway). If you’ve had trouble with them before, you might want to reconsider sticking with the New Beetle and possibly look into some other options.

Q: I need information about the volkswagen new beetle and convertible?
im planing on getting this car (my first car)…but i need to know some stuff first. ok well 1. does the convertible have a roll bar ? thats really important to me i want to be safe!! 2. i hear i breaks down alot and i dont want that so if i buy it new one will it to that? 3.what yr should i get? 2007? and thats about it just need some advise …thanks…

A: The vert has the latest rollbar system, that extends in case of a rollover. I have a ‘98 hard top, and I’m very impressed with its quality, handling, and huge ‘fun’ factor.
Go on this online forum, and ask all the questions you want.
It’s a very friendly place, and I hang there a lot.
Sometimes you can get an awesome deal on a bug there, because almost everyone there already has one, and most of them are very anal about maintenance and car care. This way you know what you’re getting. Even if you don’t find a car in the classifieds portion, you’ll get tonnes of information. There are no ’stupid’ questions either, and nobody will ‘flame’ you like some other car forums. Hope to see you there

Q: I want a new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible . What are the good and bad features???
I really, really want a new volkswagen bug convertible for my b-day. What are so,e of the good an the bad features??? I really want one. Please tell me the features!

A: Good: probably one of the safest convertables, they have rollover protection, airbags, abs, etc. Very good warranty, good performance.
Bad: Have some minor issues, these will be covered by warranty but will have a few trips to the shop. Very little luggage space but typical for a convertable.

Q: If you have a Volkswagen New Beetle- Is it true they break down or have other major problems?
Or if you know someone thats had problems with it? What kind of problems do they have, if they have any lol

My friend tells me they aren’t good cars and I really want one so I’m just wondering what other people have experienced with them.

A: Listen to your friend.
New beetles are famous for electrical problems and transmission issues.

Besides that, because they are a German vehicle, they are very expensive to fix and maintain.

The only way I would possibly recommend one is if you leased it brand new and turned it in at or before the warranty ran out.

Q: Is it weird if a guy drove a Volkswagen New Beetle?
I don’t know why, but I am so attracted to them for some reason. Lol!

http://slo.craigslist.org/ctd/1944185935.html
javadic – Well, the retro ones were considered okay, except the new ones have been seen to be more feminine.

A: I’m 21 and I drive a red Beetle. When I was younger I always wanted a blue one. But after having mine for almost 3 years, I kind of want a GTI. Sometimes I feel people ‘overly’ look at me and I feel awkward. But they are very fun to drive. I suggest maybe getting tinted windows and changing the rims.

Q: Volkswagen New Beetle growth in the US?
Do you think the New Beetle has the potential to grow in the US market? Why?

A: No. It is a 10 year old tired design.

Q: Is the Volkswagen new beetle a reliable car?
So I’m 17 and my dad just bought me my first car a 2002 beetle which I love and have always wanted one; but ever since everyone tells me they’re no good and things always go wrong with them. So I’m contemplating on getting a different car…but what if I keep up with maintenance and etc. Do you think it will be ok? So have you had any problems with one or heard so?

A: It is a VERY RELIABLE and SAFE car.

Any car that isn’t taken care of will eventually become a problem, so as long as you are keeping up with the maintenance etc you will be fine.

I owned a 2000 1.8t that I bought new, drove it until 2006 (165K miles)
when we had the miss-fortune of running off the road and hitting a tre at about 70 mph.
Both my wife and I lives were saved by the car and it’s seat-belts and airbags. We were completely unharmed. Unfortunately it was totaled so we bought another. A 2006 and we love it very much.
I have been restoring old VW’s (air-cooled ones) for 30 plus years and I can say with lots of experience that I wouldn’t buy a different car.
Nothing compares to the New Beetle, it is fast, fun, safe, and big inside.
I am 6′3″ and I have no trouble fitting inside the car comfortably.

Keep your car Dear! You were right to get it in the first place.

Q: How to make regular car mirrors on a Volkswagen New Beetle have Integrated Side Mirrors?

A: You can’t do it with factory mirrors. Go 2 abt.com

Q: How do you disable the anti-theft system on a volkswagen new beetle 2000?

A: With a VAG-COM

Q: Volkswagen New Beetle year 2000 how many miles?
So I am looking at buying my first car. I have been looking for quite sometime. I have always wanted a Bug, and I finally found one for under 3,000 and it is a year 2000 and it has 170,000 miles, it is in good condition and works great. I know that is a lot of miles. Is it to much, that the great deal is not worth it? Also what is the limit you would go on how many miles a 2000 car would have? If you could help that would be great thanks!

A: Ideally it should have around 90,000 miles on average. I wouldn’t buy that car with that many miles unless you are a mechanic.

Q: Is a 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle a good reliable car?
I am getting a used car to be my first car and I need it to be a good one to get to school and in the future college so I need a car I can trust. I have wanted a VW Bug sense forever but I guess what it comes down to is what car I can trust. So if you know anything please let me know! Thanks!

A: No

Are you looking for a 2011 Ford Mustang?

Q: I have a 2000 Ford Mustang with Flowmaster 40’s. I want to remove cats cuz I heard a ten year law requires non?
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang with Flowmaster 40’s. I want to remove cats cuz I heard a ten year law requires non emissions tests at inspection. I’m in MA.

A: If you live in a heavily regulated area…….then no……if you live in rural South Dakota like me……then no still because it’ll sound like ass….if you have a 6er like I think then the cats actually make the exhaust note a little deeper, which is a good thing because fart-can exhaust = bad!

Q: How far will a ford mustang go on one tank of gas?
I am trying to figure out how muchit costs to fill up a ford mustang and how far it will go on one full tank of gas?

A: I can go around 275-350 miles in my 03 GT depending on what kind of driving I’m doing. The fuel tank on the SN95, New Edge, and S197s is around 15- 16 gallons. I have a supercharger on my so I use premium. It cost about $40 last time I filled up

But I think you’re missing the point. It really doesn’t matter how much it cost to fill up. For example you could have a car that has a 100 gallon fuel tank and gets 60 miles per gallon, and have a car that had a 10 gallon fuel tank and but got 6 miles per gallon. The car with the 10 gallon tank would be cheap to fill up, but it would burn through the tank quickly whilst the car with the 100 gallon tank would cost much more to fill up, but you wouldn’t have to fill it up very often. You should be looking at the miles per gallon in order to get a more accurate idea of how much you’re going to be spending on fuel.

Q: Where can i find an old ford mustang that is in terrible condition?
i am looking to buy a very old and ford mustang in total junk condition for $5000 or less, then fix it up over the next few years and make it look completely new and restored and ready for the road. i would prefer a mustang with a v8 engine and for it to be between 1969-1977 or a little newer than that.

where can i find one? is there a website that has junk vehicles for sale? would a junkyard owner have one?

A: they are out there, just watch the paper and local ads, also ebay, under parts, parts cars is a good source..good luck. oh and join my group, the members can be of help finding projects..

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/classicmustang/

Q: How much will car insurance be a month on a 1999 Ford Mustang?
How much will car insurance be a month on a 1999 Ford Mustang?
I’m 17, and about to buy a a 1999 Ford Mustang from a friend. I just want to know around how much money it would be. Could I get added to my parents insurance?

Thanks for helping me out.

A: I recommend you this site where you can compare quotes so you can find the best option for you

cheapinsurance.notlong.com

Q: What is considered good mileage for a 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe?
I’m looking for a nice used car and I found a 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe in my area that is in my price range. One problem – its mileage. I want to know what range is a good mileage. So my question is what is considered good mileage for this car?

Thanks for you help.

A: anything under 84,000 miles is good mileage as 12,000 a year is considered average mileage.

Q: Whats the most newest and expensive ford mustang available to buy at the moment?
I went to fords official website and i went to the mustang section. The most expensive mustang appears to be the convertible GT 500. Is this true? I thought ford made mustangs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Am I wrong?

A: There are those that modify “stock Mustangs” into some a crazy ride.
Saleen, Roush, Shelby and Steeda who have retailers across the nation. For some you have to buy a new Mustang and have it delivered to their shop, while others sell the complete car.

Q: Is Ford planning to introduce a completely redesigned Mustang?
I want to buy a Ford Mustang (5th generation, which is the latest one) and I was wondering if I should wait and see if they’re gonna introduce a completely redesigned Mustang.
Should I wait or should I buy it?

A: Yes, Ford is planning a redesign for 2010.
They are trying to keep it “top Secret” but as usual the auto enthusiasts have published some ’sneak peek’ stuff already.

http://jalopnik.com/385886/2010-ford-mustang-headlight-shines-light-on-design-cues

I wouldn’t wait if I were you. I LOVE the ‘retro’ look of the current body style!

by the way–
Ford is not concerned about meeting the new CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) laws. They already have met some of those standards and have put into place the means to meet future CAFE restrictions.
They have PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles=Focus) and Hybrids (Escape now, Fusion next year) and even have the ONLY Hybrid/FlexFuel vehicle in R&D right now with expectations to release soon. They already have more Alternative Fuel Vehicles on the road than any other manufacturer.
And current Mustangs get pretty good gas mileage for the horsepower now
4.0 V6= 210HP
17 City/26 Hwy With Manual
16 City/24 Hwy With Automatic
4.6 V8= 300HP
15 City/23 Hwy With Manual
15 city/22 Hwy With Automatic

Both of the current engines have been previously modified (in other vehicles) to be E85 capable & this could be an option for Ford again in the future if need be to meet CAFE regulations as well

Q: Need help with replacement of 2000 Ford Mustang Engine?
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang and i have a rod knocking and piston slap and i need to rebuild the engine. I am well versed in older pre-1990 technology and i’m wondering what kind of tricky areas/troubles am i looking at, can the engine be taken out from the top or from under the car. Any special tools required. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

A: It should be able to come out either way.
The engine and transmission is mounted to the “engine cradle” and can come out as a single unit, That is the way it goes in at the factory. So some prefer this method, but it requires the unbolting of a lot more parts then a lift out.

Q: What does a ford mustang means for american people?
What does a ford mustang means for american people?

Freedom?

A: better than an import

Q: How to prove that the Mercedes C350 is better than the Ford Mustang?
I need to prove that the Mercedes-Benz C350 is a better car than the Ford Mustang. I’m not talking about performance, I mean safety and quality.

What could I say to get some one to understand that the Mercedes is better than the Ford.

A: Its German =D, And Ford Is Crap

Q: How do I find a used motor for a 1986 Ford Mustang?
How do I find a 3.8 v-6 motor for a 1986 Ford Mustang with a automatic transmission?

A: you can also use a motor out of a T-bird, the 4 cyl turbo is a nice package, used in the 84-86 SVO’s

Q: How much would it cost to replace the motor mounts on my 2003 ford mustang v6?
My 2003 ford mustang has been having a lot of problems with shaking and i’ve been getting answers that lead to me replacing the motor mounts in my car. What would be the cost to replace the motor mounts and where is the best place to purchase them?

A: a 2003 shouldn’t need motor mounts yet!, but if you need them any parts store will carry them and they really aren’t that expensive, I would say they are less than $25. each.

Q: Is there an easy way to change the ball joint on my 1986 Ford Mustang?
Does anyone know an easy way to change the ball joint on an 86 Ford Mustang? I’ve got the stands and spring compresser if needed, and undoing the ball joint from the spindle doesn’t look like much of a problem. I have to do this in my driveway while battling the Canadian winter. I really just want to know if there’s an easy way to pop the old ball joint out, and then press the new one back in without having to remove the control arm or using specialty tools.
Anyone got any ideas?

A: well you can..remove the Ball covers and try putting the new ones in

Q: How much would you expect to pay for a 1978 Ford Mustang?
We (my husband and I) have came across a 1978 Ford Mustang. It has all of it’s original parts. It only needs to be restored. It has been sitting beside a garage for the last 5 years in neglect. The only parts that are outside is the car itself, covered with a tarp. The rest of the parts (engine, interior, ect. ) are in a covered trailor. Also my husband seems to think that there is a possibility that this car is a 1978 King Cobra. We were told that it is a 1976. But from what we have researched are pretty possitive that it is a 1978. And due to the fact that it has a 302 from the factory is what is making us belive that it is the King Cobra. My question is how much would you pay for this if it was your find?
In 2 years this car will have reached it’s 30 yr mark. Which will make it a classic. We are pretty sure that it is a 1978 King Cobra. It is the only year that ford made them and there were only just under 5,000 cars made. The guy who owns it now..Thinks it is a 1976? Not sure if he is right or not. But from what my husband thinks is that It does have the hood emblems along with the scoop. The guy is only asking about 1000 for it. I was just wanting to know if anyone out there thinks that this is a good buy?

A: I just sold a very nice King Cobra for $3k, so if it needs a lot of work, I wouldn’t pay to much 500-1500

the 302 came out the second year 75. if it has side graphics, it’s a Cobra II, the King had hood graphics and a front air dam

a good place to watch is Ebay.com Kings come up pretty often, that’s where I sold mine

Q: What type of gas does a 2003 ford mustang gt take?
I just recently bought a 2003 ford mustang gt and the dealer said it took premium. However i read on the internet that it took regular unleaded. That would greatly help my wallet if it did. Anyone know? Thanks.

A: According to your owners manual 87 octane (regular unleaded) is recommended for a Mustang GT (unless it has been modified)

Here is the link to download (free, courtesy of Fords website) the entire manual. It is in pdf format so it is easily saved to your computer for future reference.
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO3MUS/~MUS~LEN/42/03musog5e.pdf
(see page 178 for fuel recommendation info.)

I hope this helps.

Are you looking for a 2010 Acura MDX Base?

Q: How do you connect an iPod to a 2008 Acura MDX?
We have the tech/entertainment package, and I read that the aux input is “behind” the center console for that package combination. I looked in the back seat (which seems really inconvenient) and saw red/white/yellow inputs, but I think that is for the DVD player (like for playing video games). I don’t see anything inside the center console except the power outlet and I don’t see an AUX input anywhere near the radio/nav controls. Thanks!

A: Unfortunately, the “DVD” player hookup (Yellow/Red/White) is the only “easy” way to wire your ipod into the MDX audio system. Because you bought the tech/entertainment, they replaced the “AUX” input with the 3 wire solution. They also retired the Acura based ipod link because people complained so much about it. Your only other options are: get an FM Modulator ( I’ve had good luck with DLO’s solution) OR a system that replaces the XM radio connection. I’ve not tried the latter, but am researching that myself. Good luck!

Q: My mom has an Acura MDX with hands-free cell. How do you maintain a call when you leave the car?
She is hands-free in the car when talking on her cell. When she gets out of the car, she does not know how to not lose the call when she turns the engine off. She has to continually call people back when getting out of the car. Is there any way to maintain continuity with the call and the hands-free in the car?

A: I have a tsx, and if it’s the same, you press the talk button and say “transfer”.

Q: 2007 Acura MDX Comfort button and AUX Jack?
I was just wondering, why doesn’t my acura mdx have a comfort button even though theres pictures on sites of a comfort button on the 2007 model. And where is the aux jack on the mdx?

A: The Comfort button instantly switches the magneto-rheological dampers to a softer setting. With it off, it has sport-tuned dampers, which gives you a much stiffer ride and better handling, etc. I personally leave my comfort button on almost all of the time in my ‘09 MDX sport. The AUX jack is located in the front part of the armrest. You need a 3.5mm male to male jack in order for your mp3/ipod to work… and push the AUX button on your stereo for it to work. Hope this helps!

Q: What are the differences between the 2004 and 2005 models of the Acura MDX?
I was recently in a car accident with my 2005 MDX, and have been looking for a new car since. I saw a certified used 2004 MDX SUV for a good deal, but I was wondering if there will be a big downgrade from the ‘05 to the ‘04 model.

Does anyone know the safety/design differences between the new car? Does the ‘04 model have the same headlights/rear lights (the ‘05 have a silver tint which is a big bonus for me, I like the futuristic elements of it)

THANKS

A: What’s New for 2005
This year the MDX receives standard XM Satellite Radio, a Bluetooth hands-free cell phone interface on Touring models, a larger fuel tank and an enhanced stability control system. The optional rear entertainment system now includes an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and the navigation system has an enhanced database. MDXs with navigation also include the OnStar communications system

Q: How to remove my 2004 acura mdx glove box?
I need to go behind that to install the cabin filter.

A: Seems like Wiki might be able to help out on this one…

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_the_cabin_air_filter_on_an_Acura

Not selling out , just trying to help…..

Q: How do you change the revesrse lights on a 2005 Acura MDX?
Does the tail light come out? OR Do I need to remove the inside paneling?

A: you should either be able to get to it by undoing some screews either facing the back or screws facing the front of the car,
if they are facing the front -can’t see them facing back then you will have to take the trim off and have a scrurage around to find the connectors.

if it’s on the boot then it’s the same but they face the front and you will have to take the trim off of there to find it

guessing you’d know how to disconnect the connectors for the lights… just twist them

Q: Song for the New Acura MDX commercial 2009?
I just saw the new commercial for the Acura MDX on comedy central and I was wondering what the song was playing in the song. The commercial is about the human body has no angle that is able to sustain a crash or something and how safe the car is. If anyone knows what I am talking about please respond. Thank you for your time!

A: Is this the commercial you’re talking about? http://www.splendad.com/ads/show/2954-Acura-MDX-Motion If so, the song has no name… it was specifically composed for the commercial.

Q: How do you find and reset the code for the radio in a 2001 Acura MDX?
It’s not on the rear door handle of this truck. I bought it used and the handle may be after market or if it was on paper it may have eroded, but there is no number now.

A: Try this. turn the radio on and make sure you see “code” on the display. Turn radio off. Hold down preset numbers 1 and 6 and turn on radio without letting go of buttons. You will see the letter U with 4 digits then it will switch to the letter L with another 4 digits. Write down these digits starting with the first set.(ignore the U and L).This is your serial number. Go to a dealership, give them the serial number and ask them if they can look up the radio code for you.(5 digit number). More than likely they won’t charge you as long as you ask nicely and show proof of vehicle ownership. Then just enter the code in the radio using preset numbers. They usually charge if they have to manually look up the serial number for you as well as the radio code and type it in for you.

Q: I own a 2003 Acura MDX, and the display is in Kilometers instead of miles. How do I change it back?
The display where it tells me my gas milege and range is in KIlometers instead miles.. I have pushed and tried every button and can’t figure out how to change it back…. Does anybody know?

A: you can’t

Q: How do you change a low beam headlight bulb in a 2005 Acura MDX?
I haven’t been able to find much info online, and there is no way I’m paying the dealership to do this. I suppose I could go outside and mess around with the light until I figure it out, but I live in MI and it’s so COLD out there! ) I’d rather go out knowing exactly what I’m doing first! Thanks for your help!

A: auto zone or advance will change the bulb for you free if you buy it off of them.

Q: Does Acura MDX 09 elite come with headphones?
I just bought a 2009 Acura MDX elite (Canadian). Does it come with wireless headphones (for the rear dvd entertainment system)? If so where is it?

cuz when we bought it, the dealer says it has everything in the technology package plus blah blah blah. The technology package has headphones, but i can’t find it in elite.

A: you’re asking in the US..it’s against the law to wear headphones in a vehicle here…you might wanna scroll down to the Canadian flag and ask there or call Acura, Canada, toll free.

Q: how much should i pay for 2006 acura MDX touring and how much should i pay for a 2006 jeep commander limited?
i like both cars… but im not sure which one to get and how much to pay for.. i dont want to go the dealer and pay too much for it..
for the 2006 MDX touring i have a offer of 34g and for the JEEP i have a offer of 35g … which one is a bettter deal and do u think i can get a better price on it?

A: Get the Acura, the Jeep really has nothing at all going for it except a Hemi that sucks gas to the tune of 12mpg. The dealer probably is willing to work on the price of the 06 Acura as the 07 is a redesign. So 34k for an Acura seems good. The Acura is also regarded as a premium SUV and the Jeep is basically the box the Cherokee came in. The Acura will also hold it’s value a good deal longer and will actually take a curve without feeling like it will tip over. Acura’s also have excellent reliability ratings, and if past vehicles are determing factors, the Jeep will be nothing special.

Q: How Long does a Acura MDX Last?
Consider the year models 2005, 2006, 2007. It will be a big help if you answer it.

A: Depends how well you take care of it. Use synthetic oil and change it every 3000-5000 miles. Keep your air filter clean and change it as needed- usually every 10000-15000 miles. Do your preventative maintenance including coolant flush, transmission fluid change, etc. It can last a long time if you take care of it.

Q: How much would insurance be monthly for a 16 year old driving an ‘02 acura MDX in upstate NY?
I’ve been driving for 8 months, no accidents or tickets or anything.

A: Try this site

http://doiop.com/insurancequotes

here you can get quotes from different companies.

Q: What is the name of the girl in the new Acura MDX commercial?
You know, that commercial at’s in slow motion, with the 40ish style jazz, and the hot girl with shoulder length black hair?

A: Look and see if the commerical information is here: http://splendad.com

Are you looking for a 2010 Acura MDX?

Q: Does the 2003 Acura MDX have safety latches for a car seat?
Does the 2003 Acura MDX have safety latches for a car seat.
My Chevy Suburban Does have them and it’s a 2001

A: Yes, it’s the law

Q: can anyone tell me what kind of gas is good for acura mdx?general or premium?
i am planning to buy acura mdx but i just came to know that only premium gas should be used for it?is it true
the manual says premium but many people are saying who have previously owned mdx are saying that midgrade would be ok for it
and it says premium recommended not premium only

A: Putting regular unleaded hurts the combustion chamber of a engine that requires premium. The fuel combustion temp is set by the octane rating. I think you should use premium only

Q: how much does it cost to get a mirror put back in it’s socket in a car – acura mdx?
i hit the mirror against the side of the garage and now the mirror is popped out so it wont rotate when the button inside the car is pushed. its a acura mdx, a nice car, but how much would that cost. it shouldn’t be to much.. right?

A: Did the actual mirror break? Try taking it over to a local shop and ask how much they charge to do that, it shouldn’t be much… try doing it yourself.

Q: Can an all wheel drive vehicle (Acura MDX) be driven on a beach?
I go to Cape Cod and cars are allowed on certain beaches there. I know four wheel drives like a Jeep and Explorer have no problem but will the Acura MDX cut it too?

A: Is it capable? Yes, without a problem. I’ve driven several Subarus and other symmetrical AWD vehicles on the beach without a problem. I’ve seen MDXs there as well. Check with the rules and regulations if they are allowed though.

Q: Did the Acura MDX come with the option for both the DVD and Navigation?
I am looking to buy a used MDX. I can’t seem to find one that has both navigation and factory DVD. I have been looking at the 2005 and 2006 models. Anyone have any info? I know they started offering the technology package, but that wasn’t until later (2007?) Thanks!

A: Actually, there was an option for both. This is an example http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura-MDX-NAVIGATION-TOURING-4WD-NAV-DVD-ACURA-CERTIFIED-ONLY-49K-MLS-LOOK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42600QQitemZ350162652303 that has both the DVD and NAVI. I believe it’s called the MDX Touring package w/ Navigation. You might have a hard time finding one if they are “rare”… and if no one’s selling one. In ‘07, the MDX offered the tech (sport) / entertainment (Navi/DVD) package.

Q: Is it possible to get an Acura MDX at the invoice price?
My last car was a Honda Accord, which I was able to get at invoice price after much negotiating.

I know that an Acura would fall into a different brand category (it would be a step up from a Honda or a Toyota, etc). Will negotiating with an Acura dealer get me anywhere? I really want to get it at invoice!

A: For new cars, the best way to get the best price is to offer a commitment to purchase. You don’t need anything fancy or try any stupid tactics. If its the car you want, and you are ready to buy, then say “I will buy it now if you sell it at invoice” if they say no and you feel you should only pay invoice, then leave and go to the next dealership.

The other thing you can do is email the sales department and tell them you will come in and buy now if they sell it at invoice.

Q: I decided to purchase a 04 Acura MDX over an 03 ML 350 was it a good decision?
I test drove both cars, and liked them both, but I was thinking more of long term, and which would give a better trade in about 3 years. Since the ML body style changed drastically I didn’t feel an 03 would be worth anything in about 3 years. It had 60K miles, and the MDX 52K.

A: the Acura is better.

and you don’t have to deal with MB poor customer service people

Q: Can 2005 Acura MDX wheels fit on a 2007 Honda Accord?
Both have the same bolt pattern (5×114.3). The wheels from Acura are 17×6.5/45offset, my current wheels on my Honda are 15×6.5/38offset.

A: The different offset will kill the wheel bearings.

Q: what is better: 2008 acura mdx or toyota highlander?
we have the highlander, but i heard acura has great deals for the mdx’s.
also, is the mdx bigger inside than the highlander? one thing we really like it the highlander is very roomy inside. thanks!

A: The MDX is better.

Toyota and Honda are most reliable brands.
Toyota makes Lexus.
Honda makes Acura.
The Acura MDX is the same car as the Honda Pilot.
The Acura is much more luxurious, has a smoother ride, is a lot more powerful and faster, handles much better, and comes with a lot more technology than the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.

Q: What should be the best price i should pay for a Acura MDX?
Hi.
Plan to buy a 2007 MDX Tech package model SUV. I did some research in internet, but i am not very sure what is the best MSRP price for this vehicle in the market. Any Help on this please.
Reg
Mik
Hi. I live in NJ.

A: It really depends on where you live.

Say you live in Hawaii where there is one Acura dealership, they can be going OVER MSRP.

But say you live in Southern California where there are hundreds of Acura dealerships they go for about $500 over invoice.

Q: Does the Acura MDX 2007 feel better after you own it for more than a month?
I was thinking of buying an Acura MDX 2007, but when I sat in it, it was uncomfortable. My friend’s car, which is the same model, feels very comfortable. Would the comfort level change after a while?

A: I suggest you have your friend drive it for a month or 2, to make it a nice fit for you…love your question

Q: How much does a 2001 Acura MDX sideview mirror cost to replace with labor and everything?
I just hit a mailbox with my car while swerving for a cat in the road. the only thing damaged is the sideview mirror which hit a mailbox.

A: Call the Acura dealer and ask. They can give you an EXACT quote.

Q: 2009 Acura MDX How do I keep the windows from rolling down when I unlock the car with the key fob?
I know it happens when I hold it down. I just don’t want it to do it at all. Can I program it to not do it at all?

A: Pushing the unlock button once unlocks the driver’s door, twice unlocks all doors, and continuing to push it rolls the windows down. To prevent it from happening, just don’t hold the button.

edit: There is no simple way to disable the function.

Q: Help with the Acura MDX Problem that Navigation system doesn’t work when i was changing dissconect battery?
I was just disconected the batery for a repair now my radio, navigation and dvd player need a code help.. The car did not come with a manual and there is no stick or card it is the dvd and navagation system also.

A: Did you buy your MDX used? It should have came with a card that had both the radio and NAVI codes. You will have to call your local Acura or Honda dealer, give them your VIN and they will be able to tell you them. Be sure to write them down, then sign up for My Acura http://owners.acura.com/ and you can enter the codes in there, so they will never be lost.

Q: What are good after market modifications for 2005 acura mdx?
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or websites to help .. I do want to put the navigation/ stereo from touring model but im not sure if it will fit in my base model

A: i think the only thing they do to the touring model is make the faceplate where the stero goes is make it bigger. i think it will fit if your get that faceplate.i no theres no performance parts maybe a diff intake but thats bout all and ive seen a few black mdx’s with diff rims that look ok

Are you looking for a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta?

Q: Has anyone who owned a Volkswagen Jetta have problems starting it in the winter?
I’m looking to buy a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI (the new deisel fuel one) and I heard from someone at work that in the cold winter weather she had a difficult time starting her Jetta. I was wondering if this was a common issue for Volkswagen owners up north…

A: I have a 1999 Jetta TDI.

I’m in the habit of putting the key in and just turning it. In the winter, there’s a little light on the dash, and you need to turn the key halfway, wait for the light to go out, then turn it the rest of the way to start the car. If you don’t do this, it will take a few seconds to start.

Another possible issue is the fuel gelling. This is fairly rare – it has to get really cold for it to happen. Different states/provinces sell different blends of fuel in the winter time (i.e. fuel sold in Michigan won’t gel until it gets to a lower temperature than what would cause fuel sold in Florida to gel). The intention there is to make it so that your fuel won’t gel.

For the 10 years I’ve owned my car, it’s never gelled. I’ve lived in central Indiana that whole time. I park in the garage at night, though. If you don’t have a garage, it’s possible it might gel like one morning per year.

One more thing about the different states’ formulations: since these cars can go so far on a tank, say you live in Detroit and go on a trip down South, during the winter, and on the way home you fill up in Lexington, KY. When you get home, you’ll probably still have half a tank of Kentucky-formulated fuel in your car. It would probably be a good idea to fill the tank the rest of the way with Michigan fuel.

They sell engine block heaters – you glue it onto the bottom of your engine (quick and easy, just have to jack up the car then remove a plastic cover on the Jetta to get to it). I think they’re like $60. If you don’t have a garage, but do have access to a power outlet, then on the coldest winter nights you can just put it on a timer to start heating a couple hours before whatever time you leave in the morning, and you should be good to go.

Get the car – they’re excellent. I should hit 200,000 miles sometime in June. My window sticker said 49mpg highway…when I drive normally (80mph) I get about 46mpg and when I drive like an old lady I get up to 53mpg. Even at 10 years old, it’s still nice and peppy. Any problem you ever have, you can find lots of helpful people at forums.tdiclub.com

Q: Which car is Faster a Volkswagen Jetta or a Nissan Altima?
What is a faster accelerating, top speed, and a better car a 2008 volkswagen Jetta or a 2003 Nissan Altima?
the Jetta has a 2.5L automatic engine and the Altima has some automatic engine not sure exactly what kind
im not buying i own the jetta and my friend just got the altima and is trying to claim its faster

A: Neither. They’re both big slow family cars.

Q: Does anybody know the song in the new 2010 Volkswagen Jetta commercial?
blue volkswagen jetta in the commercial, a couple is driving and stop for ice cream.

A: tom’s diner – suzanne vega

Q: Is this 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS a good buy?
A friend of mine is selling their Volkswagen Jetta GLS 2.0
It has 86k miles. All options with leather interior for $4500
They are also moving out of the country in 2 weeks (reason for sale)

I’ve done some research and I see that either people love their Jetta’s or all they do is complain about them.
Is this a good buy?

A: as you’ve seen if you get a bad one it’s going to cost you a lot to repair but if you get a good one might not be so bad

but why take the risk

the price is fair, but he’s not giving it away

Q: Is the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan a girl car?
I was looking with Dad today for used cars and I stumbled upon a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan…I really like it but my friends say it’s a girl car…is that true? I also like it because it get 24 MPG City as opposed to the 2008 Pontiac G6 GT that I was looking at that only get 17 MPG City.

A: Since the new design came out in 2005, I have not yet seen a girl driving a 2005-2009 Jetta.

Q: Is a Volkswagen Jetta good enough for an infant?
My wife and I are about to have our first child. She drives a Volkswagen Jetta. I am wondering if that is the smartest car for her to have with a newborn on board. I know Volkswagen supposedly makes some of the safest cars, but it’s such a small car, that I was thinking of getting her a mid-size SUV of some sort. Obviously safety is my #1 concern. I am not sure if sticking with the Jetta makes sense, or purchasing something a bit bigger. Please advise. Thanks

A: Owning a Jetta and having an infant in the back with me, I know that they are probably the safest cars you could be driving. My 2006 Jetta GLI has about 10 airbags in the front&back seats. The latches in the seats also keep the baby extra secure in case of a crash. Dont be so worried. sometimes bigger cars are WORSE to have a newborn in because it is more room (god forbid) for them to be flung if there ever were an accident. Stay with the Jetta. Its a VERY family friendly car.

Q: What is the type of oil transmission to use for 1997 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0.?
I have a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta GL with a manual transmission and i need to know what is the type ( grade) of oil that this transmision require. Since i dont have the owner manual.

A: To preface, this is for an ‘02 GTI 1.8t 5spd. The procedure will be very similar on an 02a, 02b, 02c, and 02d type transmission.(yours SHOULD be the o2a)
Note that for Mk5 Cars they changed the drain & Fill plug style. There is an updated tool you need to buy if you want to follow this procedure on the Mk5. Also, there may be slight differences in the under-engine plastic shields. The basic procedure is still the same.

Ok, a few questions I’ve pulled after a good amount of research…

1) What type of oil?
–BG Ultraguard 75W90 Full Synthetic, Part#750 (NOT #750A)
—This is reportedly sold as GM Synchromesh, Part#12377916
–Redline MT90 (Slow to warm up, but wonderful once it does)
—Use in Warmer Climates (0F +)
–Redline MTL
—Use in Colder Climates
–BG Synchroshift
–Royal Purple Max Gear 75W90
–Amsoil synth sae 75W90 MTG
–Castrol Syntec 75W90 GL-4
–Chevron Delo 80w90 (This is GL4+GL5 Boron Based, so it won’t hurt your synchro. Many report this superior to everything)
–Specialty Formulation MTL-R info buy
—No known long term testing of this oil…please comment if you’ve used this
- cold temperatures (below 20F); Shifting is hard until car is warm, then it is OK. Cold shifting slightly improved over stock.
- cool temperatures (30 – 40F); Shifting is pretty good once car is warm.
- warm temperatures (50 – 60F); Shifting is OK, not great, not crap.
- anything warmer (70 or above); Once the transmission is hot, the shifting becomes very notchy.

Quote, originally posted by ikuto »
So far Shifting with MTL-R is a little notchy when cold, but once it warms up it’s smooth again like the Redline stuff. I’ve been getting 90F temperatures in my area lately and shifting isn’t notchy at all driving for about an hour. IMO It still definitely feels better than the OEM stuff. Only had it for about 2500 miles so far. I used this because it was recommended on Bobstheoilguy.com comments and couple threads on vortex.

–Factory Fill Part # G 005 100 A1 (Not recommended. After reading some 38k miles blackstone reports that this fill turned to 10W oil. I can’t recommend it. Use one of the others listed above)

–Use Pennzoil Synchromesh at your own risk (not GL4 OR GL5 rated, but seems to work very well)
–Do NOT use Amsoil Series 2000 75W90

1.1) Oil Spec
–GL4 is recommended
–Do not use GL5 as it contains extra additives which will harm your trans. Also, the GL5 is too slick and your synchro relies on a bit of drag. Only use GL4 to ensure proper operation.
–They make GL4 + GL5 compliant oils (these are ok)
–Use only synthetics

2) Volume of oil needed?
–2.1 litres , 2.2 quarts

3) Oil Change Procedure
–Note: You do not need to change the transmission oil at a particular temperature. Just make sure you change it on a level surface and you fill it to the very bottom of the check hole.

–Get your car nice and hot
–jack it up on level ground (Car must be level)
–Remove Under Engine Plastic Tray by first removing the (4) T25 Torx Screws holding it in place
–unscrew check plug (on side of transmission facing driver side, 17mm hex)
–unscrew drain plug (on bottom rear of transmission , 17mm hex or special tool *)
Note: Check plug and drain plug are identical
–Drain transmission. Leave the plug out.
–Put long funnel and tubing from engine compartment or feed a line to your fluid pump
–Dispense a small amount of clean oil into transmission check hole to flush out any debris left at the bottom.
–Install Drain plug (apply anti-seize to threads before installing)
–Make sure car is level
–Put in 2.1 Liter (per mk4 bentley) of gear oil back in. According to bentley the check plug is the fill line. Fill until you see a bit of oil oozing out the bottom of the check hole.
–Top off until it is full. This is critical.
–Install Fill plug (apply anti-seize to threads before installing)
–Torque check plug and drain plug to 25 ft*lbs
–Wipe up any spilled oil. This is important so you can check for leaks later.
–Replace Plastic Under Engine Tray and put the (4) T25 Torx screws back in.
–Drive car
–Park, Check for any leaks

4) Necessary Tools
– T25 Torx
– 17mm hex, preferrably socket drive so you can torque the bolts, but a standard hex key will work. Just don’t overtorque the bolts.
– Some newer VW’s, Porsches, and Audi’s have replaced the hex screw with a special star screw. The manuals refer to it as tool #2567 and tool #3357. You can purchase this tool at Metalnerd Part #Part MN2567 – Gear Box Drain Bit or draper part number # HDPK1
– Fluid Pump or funnel with long flexible tube
– Drain Pan

5) Recommended Oil Change Interval
– VW Official Stance: Never

Q: I have a problem with a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Transmission, it shifts in the first two gears but nothing?
I have a problem with a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Transmission, it shifts in the first two gears but it dosen’t shift after that, could it be a computer ? Thanks.

A: I have a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS and I had to have my transmission replaced in 2005. If you still have a warranty take it to the volkswagen dealership they should have to fix it for free. Thats what happened to me. My car had a ton of problems after that too…

Q: Diesel Volkswagen Jetta 1997 Instrument cluster stopped working?
My Diesel Volkswagen Jetta 1997 Instrument cluster stopped working, no oil light, no speedo, no clock, no odometer. Is there a common fault that can be attibuted to this and can I fix it easily or do I need a new instrument cluster. Seems a power problem I checked all the fuses and the ones I can find are all ok.

A: It is possible for the fuses to be located in another fuse box or area also. It is not really uncommon for there to be two locations instead of just one. Look in your owners manual. Also, check with the Volkswagen Web Site to see if there has possibly been a Service Advisory or Bulletin issued dealing with this problem. There will be if enough people have experienced the same problem. If there is you are more than likely going to be responsible for the repair costs since the car is 11 years old. But a Service Bulletin will tell you the problem and how to go about fixing it. Hope this helps you out !!!

Q: How much will I spend for one full tank of gas for a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6?
I want to know how much I will have to spend for one full tank of gas for a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6 and about how long it will last before I have to fill it up again, I’m hoping only once a week but I don’t know anything about cars and this will be my first one.

A: I have a 2002 VW Jetta GLX VR6… It has to have premium gas!!! Make sure you use it! It usually cost about 30-35 dollers for me.. It goes 2 weeks, sometimes more for me till I have to fill it up again.

Q: 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GL brake light on causes the mulfunction of different electrical components?
The 1998 Jetta I own recently have a electrical malfunction. The brake light will come on when I first started the car, even without my emergency brake on. It will cause my head lights, windshield wipers to malfunction. Sometimes I can fix it by turning the iginiton switch all the way forward, I am wondering if that’s an electrical malfuncting or ignition system malfuncting.

A: elec in the fuse box

Q: What issues have you experienced in your 1998 volkswagen jetta glx vr6?
I just purchased a used jetta and am concerned with a knock, and wanted to see how others experiences has been.

A: What kind of a knock is it? Just on start up, or constant? These do have a minimal amount of lifter tick, if they have been sitting for a bit. Which part of the engine bay are you hearing it from? Does it fluctuate with an increase / or decrease in RPM? How many miles are on it? Have the timing chain guides been replaced? I’ll see if I can find some audio of the different sounds these things can make. I know I have audio of a spun rod bearing, it happened on mine.
Spun rod bearing- http://users.adelphia.net/~lynchhung/knock.wav
This one is some top end noise, I’m not exactly sure what the cause is. (waiting to find out)

Q: What is the best website to find 1985 Volkswagen Jetta parts?
I bought a 1985 jetta and I Want to Make it look cool. I looked around on many site I can not find much options for grilles and things. What Site is the best for me?

A: www.estrictlyforeign.com An awesome site for body accessories. And if you need parts to fix your car, go to mjmautohaus.com they are really cheap and have oem parts and a lot of stuff is free shipping.

Q: Is volkswagen jetta a good car?
I am planning on purchasing a used volkswagen jetta (probably an ‘02-’05 model). Is it a good car overall? Does it have a tendency to break down? I would love to hear from current or previous jetta owners. If you dont think its a good car, any other suggestions? thanks

A: I suppose you know that it is impossible to say that all cars of a given model are good, or durable or reliable or not. Having said that, I owned a 2004 Jetta for eight months last year. When I purchased the car it had about 75000 miles on it. The AC compressor needed replacement right away. In the time I owned it I needed to replace the front strut upper mounts for several hundred dollars. There was also a problem with phantom turn signal clicking that I solved by spraying electrical contact cleaner into the signal stalk. I also replaced the catch for the lid of the console between the seats. Not too bad for a 5 year old car I guess.
My overall impression of the car was that it was well engineered, though a little cheaply built, especially where interior trim is concerned. I had the 1.8l gasoline turbo with the “tiptronic” gearbox. The fuel economy was so-so, 28mpg over the course of a trip from California to Ontario, Canada. I have read before that the auto gearbox is not super reliable. There was a recall on the brake light switch and on the sunroof seal. VW was very good about keeping track of recalls on each individual car.
I would probably consider buying one again if I found myself in need of a smallish fuel efficient car with a lot of trunk space and room for two adults in the back on a short trip.
Good luck.

Q: where can i find a cheap used volkswagen jetta?
I am looking for a cheap used jetta. I am in the philadelphia area. If you know any other cars like the honda civic let me know.

Are you looking for a 2010 Subaru Impreza?

Q: How good is the Subaru Impreza WRX in the snow?
I think about the WRX or the Honda CR-V, yes i know they are very different but those are what i am ;looking at. How good is the impreza in snow? Subaru’s are all good snow cars, right? Any thoughts?

Any experiences would be great!
Edit: Non- STi…

A: has any one of you that answered ever drivin BOTH vehicles in the snow? i own a 2005 impreza WRX (non-STi 2.0L Turbo ect..) and im currently living in Alaska. I would strongly recomend the WRX. A friend of mine (who is currently deploied) had a CR-V and that thing was not very reliable. it always had problems with the engine, and the heater took forever to work. The Subaru has a great heater, with snow tires on it has perfect traction, feels like normal pavement when your on ice. The CR-V with studs on all 4 has braking issues just because it weighs so much more. NOW one thing bad about the WRX is the anti-lock brakes are gay. im used to pumping the brakes myself to slow down so the anti-locks cause me to throw myself through the front windshield (not literally). Even though the WRX is a little more expencive, in my opinion and personal experiances its worth the little higher price

ALSO ground clearance is not really a problem in the snow. ive drove through about 3 feet of snow in my WRX one time and the only problem i had was i couldnt see. but that was cause i didnt have winter windshield wipers on yet

Q: How many miles will i get out of a full tank in a subaru impreza 1997?
How many miles will i get out of a full tank in a subaru impreza 1997?
hi, im looking to get a subaru impreza, 2 door or even a 4 door, just wanted to ask around on how many miles will i get out of a full tank on petrol. and roughly wat is the price 2 fill up the tank?
etc etc etc

thanks alot

Timmy

A: you can get anywhere from 200-300 miles on a full tank. all depends on how you drive and where you drive (city/highway).

Q: Need to find a good carseat to fit in a subaru Impreza?
Im expecting in November, and i’ve been searching high and low for a good infant car seat to buy that will fit in the backseat of my 2 door subaru impreza L?

A: I don’t know that this is going to help you much, but we had the same problem with our impreza. We ended up with a Graco rear facing pumpkin seat that we got at a shower, but it never fit well. The best fit we got was by moving the seat to the center of the rear seat, but it still required that we had to move the seats up.

In the end, we sold ours and got a larger car, which may not have been needed. Within a year they will be where they can turn around and those seats take up much less room.

Q: Does anyone know where the aux jack is in the new subaru impreza?
i have a new subaru impreza (07 ot 08 im not exactly sure) and i am having trouble fiding the aux jack input. the owners manual says its in the armrest compartment , but its not there. there is some kind of input below my air conditioner next to the lighter thing, but its covered by something and i cant seem to open it. any suggestions??

A: I have a standard 08 Impreza and it does not have an aux jack. It would be in the armrest, but unless you have an upgraded subi (premium package, etc.) then sorry, you’ll have to upgrade to a stereo that is aux jack-capable.

Q: How much can I bring down the price on a new 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX?
I’m about to buy a new 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX next week and the invoice price is 24,000 and I will be putting 4000 cash. How much do you think I can bring the price down and get it out the door for?

A: WRXs are fairly popular… I would guess you could offer 20,000.00 and settle at 22,000.00 … call the credit union or bank, and ask what the loan value is….the loan value is the most the credit union will give you..
so your maximum that you can pay is the loan value plus 4000.00…

If the loan value is 18,000.00 your first offer should be 18,000.00
4000.00 cash and 14,000.00 financed…
your next offer would be 19, but you cannot exceed 22… because 18+ 4 =22….

Q: Do any other cars have the same type of starter motor as a 1994 manual Subaru Impreza?
Do any other cars have the same type of starter motor as a 1994 manual Subaru Impreza?

My starter motor type is 23300 AA280

is there any other car that will have the same type, I am finding it hard to find this part cheap.

A: just another subaru i think.

Q: Buying new car – what do you think of the new Subaru Impreza Luxury Edition? Is there a better medium hatch?
I’m looking to buy a new car on the weekend and really like the Subaru Impreza 2.1 5 door hatch – the luxury edition. It’s selling for about 28 thousand here in Australia. Is this a good car or is there a medium size hatch/wagon on the market for the same price?

A: My suggestion, the Ford Fusion with 1.3 Diesel engine, estimated at 62 MPG.

Q: Can you unlock the Subaru Impreza 22B on Gran Turismo 4 for PS2?
i keep going back to play Gran Turismo 4 and i realize that i cant get the Subaru Impreza 22B. Am i missing something?

A: The Impreza 22B is sold in the newer used car lot (cars made in 1995 and newer). Its not gonna be in there every single time; you have to keep checking in every time its updated. It might also be a prize car in one of the rally races, but I’m 100% sure its sold in the used lot.

Q: What size fitting and steel brake line will fit a 1998 Subaru Impreza L?
have a 1998 Subaru Impreza L and one of the rear brake lines went, i need a replacement but my auto parts store needs to know what size fitting/ threads/ and tubing size, i have no idea and the dealership couldn’t help me out…anyone know?

A: Take the old one off the car and take it to the auto part store he will tell what size you will need for the new brake line ( TAKE OFF ALL THE LINE THAT IS BAD SO HE KNOW HOW LONG OF A BRAKE LINE YOU WILL NEED )

Q: What would I need to purchase to turbo my ‘99 Subaru Impreza GX?
I want to put a turbo on my ‘99 Subaru Impreza GX, but I have no idea where to start in regards to what parts I would need to buy.

I am in Australia, so If you could tell me where I could buy/import the parts as well, i would be extremly greatfull.

Thanks in advance

A: There are a lot of engine modifications that usually need to be done to ensure your engine will be able to handle the added power of a turbocharger. Your best bet is to go to your local car performance shop and ask them. But if there aren’t any around, my suggestion would be to look into getting an entire Turbo Kit. These kits usually include everything you need to run a turbo except for an exhuast system. good luck… PS… another suggestion would to swap your engine with a Subaru WRX STi engine. Your impreza i believe weighs less that the STi, so that engine in your car would make it even quicker than the WRX. And it seems like a big job, but cost-wise it would not be too much more than an entire turbo kit.

Q: How much to replace a Catalytic Converter on a 02 Subaru Impreza?
Subaru Impreza, Catalytic Converter, Replacement Cost

A: about 150-200 dollars
parts 100-140
labor about 40 dollars at a muffler shop.

Q: how to fix a 02 Subaru Impreza rear hatchback door?
The latching system to the hatch door of my 02 Subaru Impreza Outback sport is stuck locked closed. The door handle has no resistance, it’s clear parts have broken.

Whats he best way to go about fixing this?

A: If explosives aren’t solving your problems — you’re not using enough. Just kidding! Take your car to the D e a l e r s h i p. They have probably seen this problem before, at the D e a l e r s h i p, and have developed little tricks or even specialized tools to get around it.

Your other option is to climb into the rear of your Sport from inside, remove the hatch interior panels, and see if exposing the locking mechanism will let you activate it with a screwdriver, awl, etc. If you can pull that off, remove the entire lock assembly and take it to the D e a l e r s h i p to make sure you buy an exactly replacement part.

Q: which one is better a Subaru impreza or a Mitsubishi lancer?
which one is better a Subaru impreza wrx sti or a Mitsubishi lancer evolution?
also which car is faster?

A: New Evo is a tad bit faster because there is no turbo lag unlike the STI. 0-60 = 4.6 for EVO
0-60= 5.0 for STI
just for the heck of it 0-60= 5.4 R32
All cars are for 09 model except for R32 which is limited run of 5000 for 2008 model year.

Q: Where is the hood latch on a 1998 Subaru Impreza?
I need to open the hood to an Impreza. I’ve done this before, but for some reason I can’t find the hood latch right now. If you could be specific, such as “5 inches to the left of the Subaru emblem”, that would be helpful.

A: First unlock it from inside the car. It’s on the driver side of the dash near the door.

The secondary lock is under the grill right about in the middle. Once you have the hood unlocked, it is easier to get to the secondary latch.

Q: Could a tall man fit into a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX?
A character in my novel is 6′4″, fairly thin, and normally proportioned. Could he fit comfortably into a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX? If not, what comparable 2007 car would he be likely to buy?

A: I am 6′3″ and drive an Impreza and I fit fine. Keep in mind anyone sitting behind me is gonna have cramped leg room because my seat is all the way back, but it is a fine fit for a tall driver.
