Q: i have a 1989 chevrolet silverado 1500 series?
it was running fine yesterday then today it won’t hardly go. it is just putting around and even dies when it is idling. i think maybe the fuel filter has been going bad because for a while now it sometimes has problems going up hills. can someone help me get started in the right direction?
A: Possilbly the fuel filter .How long has it been since a tuneup has been done? Also have the cat. converter checked that plugged will cause a bad idle ,rough idle and poor performance . Let me know what you find out I own one too .Thanks
Q: 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500 series with 4.3 engine?
changed the oil in my truck today (2000 chevrolet silverado with a 4.3 enigne) and my oil sensor was running around 40-45 psi now its running around 60 psi or something like that. i just got the truck so its hard to tell how long its been since the oil has been changed? any suggestions?
A: It may have been a long time,
or
There may have been the wrong oil in the engine, or gas may have diluted the oil.
My 4.3 use to run about 55 after change and get to 50 in 4000 miles at next change.
One word of caution on that 4.3.
DO NOT LET IT OVER HEAT!
I did on mine and it cracked the right head in 3 places on number 4 and 6 cylinders 1 crack on 4 and 2 cracks on 6, caused by a heater core blowing out. Drove it 3 miles with no water and fried it but with 287,000 I don’t feel to bad.
Would have walked if could but am on oxygen 24/7 so that was out of question.

When the mechanin was doing the tune up he noticed that there was an oil leak from the transmission is this somethin that would be expensive to fix or what could be wrong with the truck?
A: It depends on where the leak is, and how bad the leak is. I’m guessing the leak is not very bad, since you didn’t even know about it before the mechanic pointed it out. Some older vehicles will seep a little fluid around seals and it might not be worth the money to fix it. It can cost quite a bit to replace the seals. If it’s not making a big puddle in your garage every day, I would consider just monitoring it and seeing if it gets any worse. Make sure you keep the ATF level full!

A: i have a 2001 chevy 1500 z-71 ex cab. we purchased it a year ago and have only had to do the usual – oil changes and change the brake pads/shoes. it had 68,000 miles on it when we got it and now it has 102,000. if this helps, we paid $16,900.00 for it. we could have gotten it cheaper i think, but in my area, we jumped on it cuz 4×4’s are kinda hard to come by here. now the gas milage is a different story… in the winter we get around 21-22 mpg and in the summer with running the a/c, we get around 18 -19 mpg :>(
i guess it’s about average with a 4×4 though. keep in mind that the newer models – sometimes when buying new parts it can cost more – the newer models can sometimes only be worked on through a dealer rather than working on them yourself depending on the part that needs work – alot of the parts can only be purchased through a dealer cuz of the parts stores not caring the parts (for instance when we had the oil changed, the part store didn’t care the air filter) however, now advance auto does care one and it cost about 50.00, but has a lifetime warranty.
overall, we like the truck, but if we had it to do over again, we’d try to go with one that has the 4 full doors. our truck has 4 doors, but the back 2 are what i call half doors, lol… the 4 full doors are a big advantage if you have a family. also, on some of these trucks, a heater will come on the transmission to get it heated up quicker. they have several cool things that i like about them. and taxes cost 249.00 per year and insurance cost around 750.00 per year.

You rally should do this with the exhaust warm, helps in removal
the parts house will give you a replacement that either has a connector and all you do is unscrew the old out of the exhaust and place the new in. the reconnect the connection, or some are a universal type that you have to splice the old plug into the new sensor. Either way it is about a 30 minute job..

Q: 89 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wiper problem?
Hey I am about to buy a 1989 Chevy Silverado 1500. The only problem is that the windshield wipers and the brights dont work. I checked the fuses and none are blown. I was thinking about replacing the Wiper motor, Turn Signal Switch, and the Turn Signal lever because the brights and wiper controls are on that lever. Could someone advise me as to what I should replace first? I would hate to spend money on parts I dont need.
